A little older, a little wiser and a little fatter

Older
Last week we celebrated my 22nd birthday. It was nice to have a relaxing day and to spend
some time with Kyle. For dinner I decided that I wanted to have pizza (Papa Johns) and root beer floats, then cake for dessert.

Something cool that we picked up from Kyle's parents is that when it is your birthday, the other person gets to make the cake of your choice. Well, last year I choose to have Angel Food Cake with strawberry topping. Unfortunately, neither of us had ever made AFC so it didn't turn out as great as we had hoped.

So this year I played it safe with my classic favorite- Yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. It was very yummy.

I had a great birthday and appreciated the calls and thoughtful gifts.

Wiser
I attribute the oncoming wisdom to my current pregnant state (funny how that happens). Note that this is clearly my own opinion and is looked upon on an individual basis.

1st- There are many expecting mothers w
ho like to put a countdown ticker on their blog. To some this may seem enthralling, exciting or maybe even helpful. I however think to myself, "Why would to be reminded everyday that I still have 167 days left of being pregnant?" To me that seems cruel and unusual.

2nd- Does it ever seem like right after to tell someone you are pregnant they practically bombard you with every pregnant horror story they have gone through. Now I do realize that there are exceptions to this, but seriously what pregnant or none pregnant person wants to hear those things? Not me. So, I have decided that I will not be one of those people. Even if there are things that go wrong, there has to be at least one positive experience that can be shared.

3rd- When you are pregnant, that means that there will be an excessive amount of some things. Yes, there can be the classic you have to go to the bathroom like 50 times a day. But I have learned that it could also mean more boogers, saliva, and ear wax. Maybe that's just me though.

4th- Morning sickness is a strange thing. First of all, it can be VERY deceiving! How many pregnant people are there out there whose sickness ended when the morning was over? Not me. Also, everybody tells you that all you need to do to combat this is to keep something dry and scentless by your bedside and then eat it right when you wake up. Not true- at least for me. If I did that I became even more nauseous. I had to wait for a while, maybe an hour or two, before I could eat something and keep it down. So what have I learned from this? Each person is different and not all advice helps. Oh and by the way Aubrey, I could help but to think of you when I saw this picture!!

5th- On Monday I felt our baby kick for the first time. It was pretty cool. However, it did not feel like everybody said it would. I heard that it feels like a whisper, or a soft little brush and I even heard that it feels like the flutter of a birds wing- which by the way, I don't even know what that feels like. So you can imagine my surprise when early Monday morning I felt like I was being flicked from the inside out. No, it was not a whisper or a flutter of a birds wing, it was a flick. Although, maybe I have been feeling the whisper all along but just haven't realized it.

6th- Lastly, I have learned that I am not really into the whole putting the picture of the pregnancy stick that you peed on on your blog. Really, who wants to see that?

Fatter
Here is the picture I am sure you have all been waiting for.

This is at 4 months

I got some maternity pants for my birthday. They are actually really comfortable but I am thinking that I should be able to wait for a little bit longer before I need to actually start wearing them.

Oh and for those of you who are wondering. I am due on
August 12th. I am currently 16 weeks along. And the reason why we waited so long to tell everybody was because we had planned to tell my family the good news during Valentines weekend and we didn't feel right about announcing to everybody else before that took place. And now that I have passed the 13 week mark, I am feeling great- for the most part.

Enough is enough

So I figured that since I was being so diligent in saying the things that I liked about living here here, it would be okay for me to say some of the things that I definitely do not like about living here.

- I don't know what I will do if I see one more cochroach in my house. But I can promise you this, it will not be pretty. When we first moved here we were trying to go to sleep but couldn't because of a constant scratching noise. At first we thought it might have been mice in the dumpster. Then, when it continued and got louder I made Kyle get up and search. He started looking around in our bedroom -yes our bedroom- and by chance lifted up a garbage bag. What did he find? A cochroach longer than the width of our baseboard! It was disgusting. And now I am paranoid about another one coming in and being in my bed or something. Oh, and I know what some of you are thinking. But it is very rare that my house would be messy enough to host cochroaches!! I have found at least five inside within the last month and a half. GROSS.

- Two weeks ago we went on a mini valentines vacation to Utah. When we got home we realized that our outside thermometer to our atomic clock had been knocked off the deck. It wasn't a big deal though because it might have just fallen or maybe it was windy. At least that was what we thought until we had this conversation.

Amanda: (walking back from the dumpster) Hey Kyle, I think I know why the atomic clock is on the ground and the batteries are scattered everywhere.

Kyle: What's that

Amanda: It's simple really. It happened what your bike was being stolen.

Kyle: You must be joking

Amanda: Nope.

Yes, Kyle's bike was actually stolen. We are grateful that it was nothing special, but seriously who does that?

- This even takes place around 1:30 Saturday morning. A women from our complex actually had the audacity to come out into one of the grassy areas of the complex - which is right outside our bedroom window- and talk VERY loudly on her cell phone for about 30 minutes. No I am not kidding. And, this is not your typical phone conversation. There was swearing, there was yelling and it was very loud. And the straw that broke the camels back was that Kyle and I had to get up a measly one hour later to go and work. If it happens again, I will be taking matters into my own hands.

-Finally, this happened last night. Our sleep was rudely awakened- in the middle of the night- by a women screaming and yelling like a wild banchee person. This happened not once, but twice during the course of the night. Then, we are later awakened once again by the cops talking to a guy- who we had connected to the wild women- about what was going on. I am grateful that the police in this city are doing there duty but I can't help but to ask myself, do you have to talk to this guy about his relationship problems right next to the window where there are people sleeping??

I tend to think that I am usually a moderately patient person. However, just the fact that I have to get up every night to go to that bathroom makes me mad. I need my sleep people! And so does Kyle!! So, if I am woken up again by these types of inconsiderate actions, I will be going out, very unhappily, in my bathrobe to talk to the people myself. This has got to stop.

Week 4, 5 and Kyle's baby

Okay- I have gotten a couple of weeks behind in my " I'm grateful to live here" list.

Week 4
Something cool about living here is that people actually drive the speed limit. Weird, I know. Whenever we drive somewhere, especially when it is on the freeway, we are always surprised by this. We usually go 2-3 over the speed limit, because we have concluded that we cannot afford any more tickets, and we are usually the ones doing the passing

Week 5
Yesterday morning I woke up to the sound of the rain against my window. It was wonderful. I did not enjoy the rain as much as I do right now. However, it almost never rains in Rexburg, because it is always too busy snowing. So, now when it rains I can't help but to be happy for the rest of the day. I also want to make some yummy homemade soup and read for the entire day.

In case you were wondering, this was the weather today....

And this will be the weather for tomorrow

Happy day.
--------------------------------------------------------------

So, many of you do not know about Kyle's new baby. Luckily, I do not feel like I have been replaced. Typically I would be more inclined to explain this, but in this case I think that the pictures do enough justice.

It took a lot of convincing to get these pictures, so you should be grateful!
