AUGUST

August has been a really fun month. I am grateful however that it is almost over. Fall is just around the corner and I am so excited.

A little helper and matching aprons

We had the very first annual Hawkes Family reunion this year. We went to a place called Zions Ponderosa. There was a lot of different activities that you could do. McKayla had a really fun time with all of her cousins around for a couple of days!

We have been trying to take advantage of all the fun things that we have close by so every Sat. we go on a family adventure. A couple of weeks ago we went to Temple Square. The church history museum was awesome. They even had an exhibit that was super kid friendly. This is Kyle and McKayla holding onto the iron rod.

We have been so blessed to have awesome friends! It was so fun to meet up with Chad and Amy when the were in Utah visiting!

Another Saturday adventure was to hike up to the Timp caves with some friends. It was a much harder hike than we had anticipated. We were going to take the stroller but they said that wasn't allowed, and we understood why once we started hiking. Luckily we brought the kangaroo suit and Kyle hauled McKayla up the mountain. I don't think that he will be volunteering for something like that anytime soon.

Wyatt taking pity on Kyle and giving him a break

The view was awesome!

Just out of the cave- it was like 40 degrees in there. I am glad I remembered jackets!

Some of us were really pooped after that long and strenuous hike!

J.U.L.Y.

Whew! What a busy month this has been.

Kyle and McKayla were being naughty. And what do you do when people are being naughty? You put them in their cribs!
On the plane to visit Grandma and Grandpa. She was such a good little flyer. You know when you get on a plane with your kid and you can tell that everybody is thinking- Please don't let them sit by me. Well, the people that we were sitting by were totally thinking that and I was so proud because McKayla was an angel for the whole flight- so there!

First time swimming
Playing with Grandpa
First time swinging
And she loves it
Okay maybe not so much
Meeting up with a dear friend that I haven't seen for two years- way too long!

Temple square is so much fun

Listening to Grandma sing to McKayla on her BIRTHDAY!
The new and way awesome "big girl car seat".
Opening some fun presents
First cupcake ever
Trying to eat the candle. We had worked on blowing for so long but she just wouldn't perform.

Birthday cupcakes- and I think that they turned out so cute!!

Birthday decor

In a cute new outfit- Thank you so much K and L!

Balloons

We spent the 24th of July at my sisters house. I was so much fun- especially the fireworks!

Okay I know that I look weird but these sparklers were the bamboo kind and they were breaking. I thought it was cool that Kyle got this picture right before they fell- on my feet!

Who thinks it is time for an update!

First of all- look at our grow boxes! We are so excited that they are actually working. Hopefully we will get a lot of produce. These are seriously Kyle's pride and joy- if anything happened to them he would be devastated.

We are growing peas, green beans, cucumbers, cilantro, carrots, onions and tomatoes.

We went to St George a couple of weeks ago for Grandma Millerberg's birthday. It was good to get away but we all almost roasted to death at night while we were trying to sleep. So the next day we went shopping to look for some cooler pajamas for poor McKayla. Anyway, found these and thought they were appropriate since she is the "cutest girl ever"!

Look who has enough hair for a pony! Now Kyle can't say that the headband/bows are his very least favorite because he said that he doesn't really care for the pony either. But I think that they are cute and I am the one who gets to choose.

McKayla snarfs down anything that is berry related. A girl after my own heart! These are blackberries.

And here we are in St. George. I really wanted a four generation picture and I thought this one turned out pretty cute.

And lastly, I have good news! We should actually be doing some interesting things over the next couple of weeks, which will probably result in me wanting to blog more. Yay!

Hum

A couple of weeks ago we watched my brothers kids. This is Kyle and Tanner out counting how many onions we have and look for cats.

Tanner wants to be a cowboy when he grows up. Kyle decided that he wanted to be one to.

Somebody thinks that they are ready to be big!

I can sit up all by myself

I am good at keeping hats and bows on.

I eat my big girl "puffies"

I can gather them all up in one hand

I know how to do the sign for "more more"

I sit in a big girl chair. (One of the best things that we have bought)

I have 3 teeth- and they are sharp!

I like to read books

And I get packages in the mail.

When I was little my parents used to give me a bowl of cottage cheese with a peach on top for lunch. I always thought that it was disgusting and the cottage cheese would involuntarily set off my gag reflex. One time I threw up and I probably got in trouble because my parents thought that I did it on purpose, but that was the end of the cottage cheese and peach for lunch. So, the other day I tried cottage cheese again for the first time in 17-18 years. Yep- it was still gross and I think that I threw up in my mouth a little bit.
