Vacation

Well we finally made it through finals week and I will say that we both did quite well in our classes. I am very proud of both of us. And, Kyle is officially done with classes now so that is something to celebrate about. So if everything goes according to plan, Kyle will finish his internship while I finish up my classes/ internship and then we can graduate together!

I figured that this summer we would be driving around 3500 miles. We went down to Utah first for a few days and then we drove through to Colorado. While there, I got my teeth cleaned - NO CAVITIES!!-, we saw the Dark Knight- Kyle liked it but I didn't-, my cousin put low lights on my hair- now it is all brown!- and Kyle went horse back riding each morning. We really appreciated the hospitality of my uncle Mike and aunt Vivian.

Then we made the very long drive through Colorado, Kansas- Yuck!- and parts of Oklahoma. After 12 and a half hours of straight driving we finally made it to Kyle's parents house in Texas. It sounds like a really long trip but we both enjoyed the time we were able to spend together and to relax. Last time we were here in Texas I mentioned that I would like to see more of the state, so when we get here this time Kyle's parents had a trip down to San Antonio and Sea World planned. We had a lot of fun and were able to have some good bonding time with Kyle's parents because it was just the four of us. And, I even was able to convince Kyle to go on a roller coaster ride with me- and that it a major plus!! We spent some time at the Alamo and then drove back up north. I do have a lot of pictures but they will have to wait because I forgot the transmitting cord-- Sorry. I will just have a lot to post later!

In the mean time, I did want to post some pictures that Kristen- Brant's wife, was nice enough to send me.




Over the weekend Kyle's brother Brant, his wife Kristen, and another brother Austin Keith flew down to be with the rest of us. We decided that since we were all here together we found get some quick impromptu pictures taken.

Fun in the pool




This is Austin Keith's tortoise Spike. I used to call him a turtle but Kyle's family corrects me and tell me that he is a tortoise, not a turtle. The difference is that turtles have fins and they swim, and tortoises have legs for walking and they don't swim. He is about 10 years old, he is heavy enough that I can't carry him and I think we have an agreement to both stay away from each other.

Our Fourth of July

Well you could probably say that Kyle and I had a very uneventful, yet interesting Fourth of July.

First of all, last week one of my friends found out that I had never seen Lord of the Rings- really. When they first came out I thought they looked dumb and cheesy. But then as time went by I didn't see them more because I was one of the only people who hadn't seen them than for any other reason. So long story short, Kyle and I finished watching The Lord of the Ring last Thursday, thanks to the graciousness of Scott and Alicia. And I will say that they were actually way better than I thought they would be- I was very pleasantly surprised. So to all of you- you know who you are- who won't read or watch something because you think it's cool to be the only person who hasn't done it it is time to succumb to being the same as everybody else.






She is my favorite. And can I just say that I am so glad that Aragorn did not fall for the blonde chick!

On the morning of the Fourth of July we went to the parade




I have decided that parades just aren't house they used to be when I was a kid. First of all, about every fifth float with a dance group of little girls shaking their bums, doing the shimmy and dancing to songs such as "Can't touch this." Needless to say we were less than impressed. And does this worry anybody besides me? We were also surrounded by several groups of very large, loud people. And it made it quite hard to watch the parade when these people stood in the middle of the street as their children were chasing down the cars trying to get more candy. I picked up a piece of candy that was right by me foot and I literally got a look of death- twice- from a little kid because he felt like he needed the candy more. Things have definitely changed.

But some good news is that I finally got my new sandals and I LOVE them.



Kyle and I have decided that my feet look kind of fat in this picture and I would like to say that I do not have chubby feet, even though it looks like I do here. These shows have fantastic arch support.

After the parade we came home and took a nap. Later that night we had a bbq with some friends and then we waited for the fireworks. The only problem was that they never came. Weird, but today Kyle found out that they were set up wrong so they all ended up blowing up on the ground all at the same time. So, so much for watching the fireworks. It made me miss the very cool, and very dependable Stadium of Fire.

And then the next day, as I was doing the laundry I realized a little too late that I had washed Kyle's phone. It was not a very pleasant experience for me but after a few hours of drying- and me worrying- it started to work again. We were very grateful that it still works and Kyle now has a very clean phone.

Oh and we also spent about five hours at the library on Saturday doing homework for finals. Doesn't that sound like fun!!
